verien
2006

$3.00

Verien Brotzman, veteran session drummer/percussionist, boldy steps onto the stage with his debut solo EP – Songs from the Right. For years Brotzman has backed up artists all over the globe and made a name for himself as the perfect side-kick. Now, the only name you need to know is “VERIEN“. Taking on singularity, Verien has become the quintessential pop songwriter picking up where the likes of Brian Wilson, Jack Johnson, Ben Lee and Ben Kweller leave off.

mark rice | live @ the treehouse coffee shop

Recently discovered is this recording of Mark Rice performing for what appears to be the first time a new, unfinished song “Hold Me Now”. It was recorded on an ipod, however the drive and emotion found in Mark’s music translates even through the rough recording.

Concert Review: Mark Rice @ the Treehouse

Collingswood, NJ
by Rew Bruckner

November 11, 2006 held a special treat for fans of thoughtful acoustic music in the greater Philadelphia area, as local songwriter Mark Rice introduced new material at the Treehouse Coffee Shop in the cozy hamlet of Collingswood, New Jersey. The fine autumn evening proved warm enough for an open door, so that with the entryway positioned beside the performers, the gentle flow of traffic and pedestrian shoppers presented a shifting backdrop to the music, while inside, the espresso machine punctuated the sounds of the sparse crowd.

Mark Rice @ The Treehouse Coffee House
November 11th 6:00pm

The Treehouse Coffee House
690 Haddon Ave
Collingswood, NJ

On Saturday night Mark will be stepping up to the mic around 6:00pm with no one to accompany him but his trusty acoustic guitar and smooth voice, although there is always the chance of one Verien Brotzman showing up with a box or something to bang on. It is expected that he will be on for at least a solid 45 minute set, after which he will yield the mic to popular local act, Juniper Jazz Trio.

In the past, fans of Rice’s music have recieved a poor reputation for being a bit stingy with their New Jersey show support. When asked, one fan responded quite frankly, ” …Free show my ass! It costs 3 bucks to get home from it.” Rice has commented only to say that he does not appreciate these fans’ attitudes but understands where they are coming from, however all are equally welcome to attend any show that he is playing, either in Pennsylvania or New Jersey.

Come one, come all to the Treehouse this Saturday night!
